ABOUT DR. JESSICA BARRON

Hi! I’m Jessica. Thank you for visiting! I am a life-long learner with a knack for storing random facts and always asking questions. My life motto is “everything is data” and my ultimate goal is to invite people to think differently.

The majority of my work, research, and writing is directly focused on race and identity in the U.S. Specifically, I am interested in the ways different groups experience stratification and inclusion in our country. I am eager to understand how we came to be stratified, what perpetuates that stratification, and what are pathways forward to meaningful inclusion so that equity can truly be realized by all.

As a thought leader and national expert on strategies for dismantling systemic barriers to racial and gender equity and inclusion, I have had the opportunity to publish, speak, and develop workshops for a variety of audiences on these very topics. I hold a Ph.D. in Sociology and Demography which has trained me to walk folks through complex issues in order to explore a more expansive way of thinking about solutions.

When I am not researching, I am most likely watching any and every sporting event or finding my way to a body of water with sand and sun. I also enjoy food with a passion, washed down by a good whiskey or tequila. I am a Southern California native who has lived all over this country and currently resides in the South East.
